Our conductor, one of the few Alaskans we met, welcoves us aboard the Princess Observation car.

We're downstairs in the dining area portion of the Princess Observation car. Down at the far end of the aisle a waiter approaches with orders.

Our lunch on the train. We ordered Salmon chowder and a salmon BLT. It was quite good. You can see our "meal voucher" under my coffee cup.

Sign showing the "Highest point on the Alaska Railroad Elevation 2363 feet". The telegraph poles along the route no longer carry wires and have been stripped of their insulators.

Looking out the front of the main Denali Lodge. We're waiting for our Tundra Wilderness tour bus. Across the highway you can buy anything from gasoline to a Subway sandwich.
