On the bus on the way to Fairbanks, we get a good view of the train tracks and river from the bus as we cross the Nenana river gorge.
gttexas:
This is a rest stop. We're stopped at a unique rest stop/campground/museum/shop on the way to Fairbanks. The owner keeps his plane here among other things.
gttexas:
Junk or memories? You decide. That washing machine at right sure reminds me of Mrs. Ruth on a Monday morning! I think she had one just like it.
gttexas:
Looks like the owner has water landings covered too. There is a river just west of the rest stop.
gttexas:
Main entry of the shop/museum at the rest stop. There's quite a selection of animal traps to the left of the door.
gttexas:
Out back at the Fairbanks Princess Riverfront Lodge. This sight and the Chena river were just outside our window.
gttexas:
A paved, landscaped riverfront path extends quite a way down the river from the Princess.
gttexas:
A boat ramp and more buildings on the river. Surprisingly we're right in town and across the highway from the airport.
gttexas:
Angie reads the sign outside Pike's Waterfront Lodge about the Iditarod race starting at this point.
gttexas:
A view of Pikes Waterside Lodge. Actually it's right beside the Princess Riverfront Lodge.
gttexas:
Sign for Pike's Waterfront Lodge. Immediately across the highway is the Fairbanks airport.
gttexas:
In Fairbanks I saw numerous satellite dishes pointed downward. Whatever you have to do to get a signal I suppose.

We've just come on a path from Pike's to Princess and are at the side of the building. We're going to take the trail through the trees at right where it says Golden Heart City.
