As we deplaned, nurses were there to take our temperature. Apparently, this is standard - they are checking for the flu.

Guides in Bagan airport. Burmese men wear this garment called a longyi. It's amazing that it doesn't fall off, given that there is no belt or fastener of any kind.

These women practically accosted Sara, draping clothing over her and telling her how beautiful she looked. It was hard to resist. We bought the tamein (skirt), not the shirt.

Dried fish at the Bagan market. Since refrigeration is dependent on power, which is spotty in Burma, lots of food is dried.

Bagan market. Basically a bunch of people sitting on the ground, with their wares spread out all around them.

Monk sitting at Shwezigon Pagoda, counting his beads. One of the most peaceful scenes we've ever witnessed.

Buddha, side view. The sculptor placed a stone in between his fingers, but it's actually a workaround - a continuous piece means that his fingers are less likely to fall off.
