Foodie Baker: slice a lemon as thinly as possible
Foodie Baker: boil the lemon slices until softened
Foodie Baker: let cool in ice water bath
Foodie Baker: combine boiled lemon water and sugar together
Foodie Baker: simmer lemon slices in syrup for 1 hour
Foodie Baker: let dry on a baking sheet
Foodie Baker: combine eggs, sugar, lemon zest and olive oil together
Foodie Baker: whisk until blended
Foodie Baker: sift in 1/3 of the flour
Foodie Baker: stir in 1/2 of the buttermilk
Foodie Baker: sift in another 1/3 of the flour
Foodie Baker: stir in remaining buttermilk
Foodie Baker: stir in remaining flour
Foodie Baker: transfer to a cake tin
Foodie Baker: bake the cake!
Foodie Baker: make the lemon syrup while cake is baking
Foodie Baker: fresh from the oven
Foodie Baker: unmould the cake and poke holes all over with a skewer
Foodie Baker: drizzle lemon glaze all over
Foodie Baker: place candied lemon on top
