The fleet front to back: 86 Yamaha Radian, 88 Kawasaki KLR650, 92 Yam Seca II, 93 Honda Accord wagon. Best decade ever for Japanese motor design! (too old and beat up to get much respect, but they'll prolly be dancing on the graves of your Priuses)

Cleo in her laying box. The day after I shot this, she established an unauthorized nest in the weeds behind the solar panel. Hiding from the paparazzi, I suppose.
finitor:
Sal is at his happiest operating heavy equipment. Though here sadly we are taking down the big old oak that sheltered my driveway. It was killed by Phytopthera ramorum, an exotic fungus-like pathogen that is decimating California oaks.
finitor:
Old fire pump in front of chicken coop. Prolly hasn't run for 25 years; here's to hoping we don't need it anytime soom.
finitor:
Pablita the Ameraucana demonstrates how chickens sunbathe. It seems very important to them to even out the tan on their legs.
finitor:
Jerzy the Crested Polish rooster (named for Kosinski, for being small, intense, and sexually ambitious). His crest is always bloody and mangled because the demure hens will reach around and rip out his top feathers when he tries to mount them.
finitor:
Cuckoo Marans rooster. Though well turned out and twice the weight of pipsqueak Jerzy, Rocky is completely subordinate, and is batting zero with the ladies. Conventional attractiveness trumped by wile and persistence, again.
finitor:
Hillside above the house, looking down into the canyon. Oak chapparal community typical of the dry east slope of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Linguini a la carbonara e funghi: finished with parmesano reggiano, more butter, a raw egg (just laid), black pepper, and fresh oregano from the flowerpot on the kitchen stoop. Paired with a Pinot Grigio from Meridian in Napa. Chi chi, what?
