Save the Children Lebanon has organised a Homemade Food Products exhibition for Syrian and Lebanese ladies who benefitted from the Home-Based Skills Development project.

Food products displayed at the exhibition included tomato paste, chili paste, pickles, fruit preserves and sweets.

Beneficiaries were trained on the right production techniques and hygiene methods as well as marketing.

Salma* took part in the project for several reasons. The Lebanese mother-of-four couldn’t find a job to support her children after losing her husband to cancer.

Salma says the programme was a great opportunity for her to invest in her time and generate a small amount of money.

Jamila* and Fadwa* enjoyed the work because it created an atmosphere of fun and cooperation.

Her ambition is now to sell out and keep up the fruitful work she started.

The ladies resorted to the traditional Levantine cuisine to suggest items they wanted to prepare, such as Makdous (stuffed eggplants), Shanklish (milk cheese) and Greek yogurt.
