Desiree Koh: October 9. So for a long time, I have been hearing about the awesomeness of Grill'd burgers from Dion. I have been eager to experience for myself.
Desiree Koh: These are strong claims. I love burgers. Let's find out.
Desiree Koh: Healthy burgers that taste heavenly? Can this be true?
Desiree Koh: Exhibit A: Tuscan Delight, a massive slab of lean chicken breast - yes, Grill'd - to tender perfection and sandwiched with pesto, roast capsicum and cheddar. Hen party right there.
Desiree Koh: Exhibit B: The inside of a Tuscan Delight. A burger that doesn't fit into your mouth is a burger to behold.
Desiree Koh: Exhibit C: The Mighty Melbourne, with 100 percent lean beef and the typical Australian lot of mozzarella, crispy (trim) bacon, (free range) fried egg, beetroot slices, salad and relish. Holy cow. Wow.
Desiree Koh: Exhibit D: What's a good burger without fresh, hand cut "chips" to go with? These were herb'd up in a way to get you high on fries.
Desiree Koh: Demolition derby - burger rubble.
Desiree Koh: 100 percent Daniel Tan.
Desiree Koh: Getting really Grill'd.
Desiree Koh: Not to be trendy or anything, but we then had the best cupcakes in Melbourne for dessert.
Desiree Koh: The array on a tray includes Orange Jaffa, Red Velvet, Cookies and Cream, Chocolate Cheese, Espresso and Belgian Chocolate.
Desiree Koh: Better jolt of energy than a regular cuppa. These were very, very good.
Desiree Koh: The chocolate Little Cupcake with a twirl of cheese cream sans swirl.
Desiree Koh: Orange Jaffa Little Cupcake pleading sweet to the nth degree.
Desiree Koh: Cupcakes runneth over.
Desiree Koh: Federation Square, where Melburnians come to do everything that's about liberation. It's the city's token so-ugly-everyone-hates-it-but-is-now-iconography spot.
Desiree Koh: The Melbourne skyline. Do not be fooled though - the city is very little glass, steel and atrocities of modernity. To look like this is to be edgy - the heart of the city is all Victorian and Art Deco.
Desiree Koh: On the other end.
Desiree Koh: We set out on a jaunt to pick up our race packs from the vaunted Melbourne Cricket Ground - the G. It's like the Dodger Stadium of cricket.
Desiree Koh: A ferris wheel along the Yarra River.
Desiree Koh: A different spin.
Desiree Koh: This was a truly amazing sight. Strange Fruit is a performing arts company in Melbourne that stages music on bendable stilts 13 feet high, swaying to the bells they're ringing.
Desiree Koh: They were rehearsing for a performance in the Melbourne International Arts Festival. Check out that swaying, inspired by wheat rippling in a breeze.
Desiree Koh: I sure wish I could've watched the show.
Desiree Koh: Bellwethers, bellringers.
Desiree Koh: The G. Where glory was scheduled to be waiting post-marathon, if you believe the race tagline.
Desiree Koh: Thank you for being a sponsor. But I didn't need you.
Desiree Koh: Jiminy Cricket or someone... probably the Lou Gehrig of the sport.
