demcanulty: taking the wheel off
demcanulty: old tie rod
demcanulty: castle nut and cotter pin

demcanulty: spent a while trying to turn the nut the wrong way, but once I realized this it came off relatively easily - a pipe provided some useful leverage
demcanulty: broke down and bought a tie rod puller for $15
demcanulty: but only after I had already spent a while mangling the thing with the wrong tools
demcanulty: so easy
demcanulty: a few seconds later the bolt was out
demcanulty: 21 turns and the old tie rod came off
demcanulty: the new tie rod had the same dimensions
demcanulty: wheel goes back on
demcanulty: after a quick spin around the block to test, I put the hubcap on and called it finished - the alignment even seems roughly the same
