spent a while trying to turn the nut the wrong way, but once I realized this it came off relatively easily - a pipe provided some useful leverage

but only after I had already spent a while mangling the thing with the wrong tools

a few seconds later the bolt was out

21 turns and the old tie rod came off

the new tie rod had the same dimensions

after a quick spin around the block to test, I put the hubcap on and called it finished - the alignment even seems roughly the same
