Steven Crisp: Here's a beautiful hiking spot right off RT 130 in the so-called Snowy Range at Lake Marie
Steven Crisp: The water cascades under the road an to a very short but beautiful loop trail
Steven Crisp: Who left this cute little guy tied up on the bridge?
Steven Crisp: Movie: Here you can see where the water cascades out from under the road, into a waterfall and river with a loop trail and bridge around it.
Steven Crisp: Beautiful Columbine in bloom along the trail
Steven Crisp: That's Carol down by the towering trees, and you can see the haze that has recently arrived from wildfires out west.
Steven Crisp: Rare sighting of two Lazy Dazes together. One is brand new and the other is 21 years old!
Steven Crisp: Mike and Elizabeth Coachman were kind enough to invite us to stay at their campsite for the night, and we got to share stories.
Steven Crisp: Part of the Snowy Range, and true to its name in mid-July!
Steven Crisp: This was a really pretty drive along RT 130 in Wyoming
Steven Crisp: Yep, we stopped at the museum trying to learn a bit more about Medicine Bow.
Steven Crisp: Wacthing some weather come in at our roadside boondocking spot
Steven Crisp: Amazing how far ahead you can see where the road is going. Won't find that back in the Northeast, that's for sure.
Steven Crisp: A roadside view of the Devils Tower. We had hiked around it on a previous trip (thankfully) as the lines were crazy long when we drove by the entrance.
Steven Crisp: They sure know how to make lots of hay out west
Steven Crisp: I loved the detailed hay cut patterns and hay bales, along with the color contrast of the grass, trees, and red soil/rock/tailings?
Steven Crisp: Movie: Amazing Picnic Springs Campground (and it's free!) is worth the drive off the main road. Check out these sandstone cliffs right next to our campsite.
Steven Crisp: Movie: Here is lower off the cliffs and a little side "cavelet" to get out of the weather -- pretty cool
Steven Crisp: Apparently I'm not the first one to be here ;-) David and Jane Paul leave behind some sandstone graffiti.
Steven Crisp: Just waving "hi" -- and not taking the leap ;-)
Steven Crisp: Howdy pardner, looks like we got us more sandstone graffiti. At least "R" didn't get too far.
Steven Crisp: I've never seen this kind of campsite wood-burning stove before. Pretty cool!
Steven Crisp: Sandstone remnants just randomly on the landscape
Steven Crisp: This narrow single-track trail (about a foot wide) is a cow path. How those big animals keep their feet so close together is beyond me.
Steven Crisp: More interesting eroded cliff shapes.
Steven Crisp: And what do we have here? It looks like personal-sized cave (or at least shelter)
Steven Crisp: Yep, I can fit in. Let's see, I had my Meditation Rock back in Week 3, so I declare this my Meditation Cave!
Steven Crisp: And check out the view from inside. OK, here we go, ready? "Aauuummm..."
Steven Crisp: Just gotta watch out for this prickly pear cacti when you're hiking off the beaten path.
Steven Crisp: Checking out the cliffs from down below. You can certainly tell where the water level was so very long ago.
