Starting at 800 grit the finish is taken from the rough, out of the gun, finish to a perfectly flat base to polish.

The headstock is bound and that's it for now.. I'm really happy with the choice of rosewood as a headstock cap.. very pretty!

The back binding is glued in place now and this stock 45rpm is coming together finally.

The multi-ply binding is glued in place around the top.. it turns out acrylic glue burns like buggery in open wounds.. we live and learn!

The headstock binding channel is last..finally the workshop smells more of sawdust than lacquer!! Much better!

The rest of the back routing is done using a bearing cutter..

Now, a dusty search through a load of old templates...the amazing thing is I know pretty much exactly what is in this mess!

The top of this stock guitar is now ready for binding.. there's still the back and headstock to do, though using a different method.

Finally we start routing and because of the time spent setting up the actual job only takes a few minutes and is spot on!

The jig is fitted into the router and slides over the bearings when everything is perfectly aligned.. and perfection is what we need!

A ten millimeter hole, the same width as the bearings, is drilled into the little jig.

A move on to the engineering lathe as I start making a centering jig.

After the hole is threaded three bearings are bolted to the table, the guitar body will follow this while the router bit cuts very precisely!

I can't go on without spending a little time working with wood.. it's an addiction! In preperation I drill a new hole in my pin routers table.
