CrimsonGuitars.com: Tomorrow we sand through the grits and get some finish on this custom 'plagiarist' guitar..
CrimsonGuitars.com: A start is made on finalising the edges of the guitar, comfort is the watchword for this build.
CrimsonGuitars.com: The pin router is set up and the plagiarists control cavity is routed to match the front carve.
CrimsonGuitars.com: Back to reality.. did you know you can burn a hole in your eyeball and not even feel it for half an hour?
CrimsonGuitars.com: A makeshift blast furnace.. it's amazing how hot you can get a barbeque using compressed air! :)
CrimsonGuitars.com: Fail... the jug was not made from what I thought it was.. bummer!
CrimsonGuitars.com: How low tech can you go... fire!
CrimsonGuitars.com: Some old frets... what next?
CrimsonGuitars.com: A bucket barbeque...
CrimsonGuitars.com: To complete the look we're considering using these one off clear caste pickups.. depending on how they sound of course..
CrimsonGuitars.com: Finished and looking great! I could not be happier... onwards now to the dread of administration..
CrimsonGuitars.com: The final stage of the process and I use the random orbital sander to clean things up..
CrimsonGuitars.com: While the body inlay cures I file back the ones on the headstock..
CrimsonGuitars.com: Ah yes, all the inlays are now glued in place.. I'm very pleased with how this beauty is turning out.
CrimsonGuitars.com: In on a bank holiday but I really want to get this inlay finished up..
CrimsonGuitars.com: Well, another night glued to the computer, the home page is revamped and I love it! Good night..
CrimsonGuitars.com: The inlays have now all been cut out and I'm feeling a little shell shocked.. too much tea and close work I think!
CrimsonGuitars.com: I start cutting out the inlays for the body.. there's quite a lot of this!
CrimsonGuitars.com: The inlays are all glued in place.. this is going to be a very cool guitar in the end.
CrimsonGuitars.com: The inlay cavities are all recessed, by hand with a small chisel and with a baby router.
CrimsonGuitars.com: I use a sharp new scalpel to cut around each individual inlay.
CrimsonGuitars.com: Halfway through cutting out the headstock inlays.. more lettering, more alloy...
CrimsonGuitars.com: A day of inlay today..
CrimsonGuitars.com: A very very nice guitar coming together here, PRS derived but unique nonetheless.
CrimsonGuitars.com: The logo is inlaid..
CrimsonGuitars.com: Some adjustment to the inlay to account for the new headstock design.
CrimsonGuitars.com: The alloy 'crimson' logo is the first to be cut out.. no cnc machining here.
CrimsonGuitars.com: When drilling holes for tuners always always always drill through from both sides to avoid ripping out the grain!
CrimsonGuitars.com: The whole guitar has been sanded to 120 grit with the random orbitals..
