1.5” diameter maple end cap prototype drilled though centre for #6 machine screw.

An idea that worked. Changing a M3 to a #6-32 thread with my floating tap handle on lathe.

Installing the Sam Brown fastener with a #6-32 threaded rod running through maple end cap, prototype..

Bandsaw circle cutting jig with short 1/8” pin for rotating on. There is a rail locking knob on the bottom side. You can flip the rail and cut a 40” diameter circle.

Turning end caps to a diameter of 1.50”. Parts double sided taped together.

Kling wrap to the rescue once again, and a fixture to hole the end cap for planing.

Drilling #6 screw clearance hole in curly maple end cap.

Dampened leather, added filler plug and wrapped to achieve cylindrical U lock shape.

Curly tiger stripe maple end caps with oiled finish. Punched the holes for brass balls upside down (darn).

Using a 5/16 socket to tighten rack clamp. Brass #6-32 acorn nuts.
