BJL_Hen: After an 18 hour night train we arrived in Aswan and stayed at the Saladin Hotel...it was okay.
BJL_Hen: We had a balcony for our room and the view was pretty decent...This is a shot of the Royal Tombs of Aswan.
BJL_Hen: The food in Egypt was great...
BJL_Hen: Our Salad
BJL_Hen: Tuna with onion and mayo
BJL_Hen: A sweet and sour sauce...
BJL_Hen: Pickles...
BJL_Hen: Lentil soup...
BJL_Hen: And bread of course.
BJL_Hen: Royal Tombs of Aswan night shot
BJL_Hen: The next morning we woke at 3:00AM to go to Abu Simbel.
BJL_Hen: This is a must see for anyone planning to go to Egypt.
BJL_Hen: You are not allowed to take photographs inside the tombs...
BJL_Hen: But again a lot of people ignored that...
BJL_Hen: Abu Simbel
BJL_Hen: There is only one probelm when you travel in Egypt...
BJL_Hen: And that is the "convoy" that travels from city to tourist destination...
BJL_Hen: From each city, all the tourists travel together in one long convoy...
BJL_Hen: Everyone arrives at the same time, and leaves at the same time...
BJL_Hen: It's a bit of a pain...
BJL_Hen: The tombs themselves are incredible...
BJL_Hen: They were moved from their original location...
BJL_Hen: Back in 60's the two temples were moved from what is now Lake Nasser
BJL_Hen: Each temple was moved brick by brick
BJL_Hen: King Ramesses II had them built durng his reign
BJL_Hen: Each of the seated statues was built to resemble Ramesses II
BJL_Hen: And the inside of the tomb is even more impressive than the outside.
BJL_Hen: Course getting choice shots with all the people about can be a bit of a challenge.
BJL_Hen: Having a long lens would really help here.
BJL_Hen: All of these images were taken at the big tomb
