MrRob.in:
Popped out to walk the dog as it got dark and remembered to take my only 'house' pic of the day
MrRob.in:
No insulation material had been inserted between second bedroom & wc!! Noisy & smelly unless gap is filled with expanding foam. In fact you could see light from wc from bedroom.
MrRob.in:
Why the two holes? Nb the wood to the right is only held in place by friction & the two nails in the face of the next bit.
MrRob.in:
Yet another area that wasn't re-pointed correctly Again it's failed because it's a top level brick with not enough of the old pointing removed & debris left in the joint preventing the new mortar bonding.
MrRob.in:
This interesting solution, tucked in behind the kitchen to living room door trim (I guess to prevent dust as debris escaping from behind that is easier than cleaning it out & filling with foam)
MrRob.in:
Clear instructions were NOT to use filler (other than screw hole for the concrete screws but only if we gave the go ahead after seeing them).
MrRob.in:
The gap between doorframe & wall (after I cleaned out debris from when plaster was removed) access to re-point was a little tight but ought to have been attempted (I've since had a go here)
MrRob.in:
I've NEVER seen cardboard used as a building material before Probably because it is the perfect food for rot. Here it was used to pack the skirting board. NB there is no damp proof course so this area will be whicking moisture from the ground floor slab &
MrRob.in:
A piece of old slat from the original lime plaster. Rather than it being removed it had a bit of wood nailed over it (above the door architrave)
MrRob.in:
A bit of wood was jammed on behind the trim around doorway that was visible (easier than pointing in or using expanding foam to secure the door casing)
MrRob.in:
Yep that skirting wasn't attached to the wall at all! & the pointing on the bottom of fireplace is unfinished.
