babababarandon: Super fun but poor fender clearances. Should prove to be a great foray into this whole 650b thing you all are so fond of.
babababarandon: Cinelli 1A Stem mated to Nitto Noodles using a beer can shim.
babababarandon: Cable routing
babababarandon: Dark Red Newbaums handlebar tape and clear shellac. A little bit of dull/cloudy area on the ramps from riding before allowing a full dry.
babababarandon: Stronglight 49D, TA rings(50/36) and Suntour Cyclone. The clamp design for this iteration of the cyclone is really neat.
babababarandon: Ultegra 9 speed rear derailleur and ultegra hub(105 front hub, both on synergy rims)XT/XTR(?)cassette(11-34t). Need to replace the makeshift ferrule which is causing the cable to come out of the brazed stop kinked.
babababarandon: After much futzing with Mafac Racers I had to switch to Dia Compe 610s to allow better clearances for fenders. Racer pivots are narrower and the back plate is lower than 610s. QR straddle bolt allows removal of wheels w/o deflating tires.
babababarandon: VO rack is certainly functional(had it laying around)and suits the nature of the build... Which would be "inexpensive randonneuse". This bike is all about trying out 650b, and I am definitely loving it.
babababarandon: Where to mount the light to not be interrupted by a bar bag? Had the DIY paul style mount and the Weinmann arm already lying around. We want the funk.
babababarandon: Modified the cable stops to mate well with the obsolete Shimano "B" style DT shifter bosses. Patiently and carefully filed out the slot.
babababarandon: Nice simple, but elegant junction... for a production bike with wanting finish work.
babababarandon: simple dimple
babababarandon: "Shakedown"
