A bit-more zoomed in, the 2nd of 2 map locations, showing each portal & the line of the tunnel. Quakers Yard on the right, Cynon on the left.
Aron Stenning:
The Quakers Yard portal.
Aron Stenning:
A fair bit of masonry from the top of the portal has collapsed into the cutting over the years. As you can see, it's quite boggy/flooded outside of the portal.

In we go!
Aron Stenning:
One of the refuges! Quite a few of these have been mined through during the 1984 miners strike.
Aron Stenning:
These were placed over drainage recesses in order to hold the track up above them, thus allowing for any flood water to easily flow into the recess and out of the tunnel.
Aron Stenning:
A signal wire holder! (Cheers to Cunning Corgi for giving info on this)
Aron Stenning:
Where some of the tunnel wall lining has fallen in through subsidence due to all of the mineshafts below this area.
Aron Stenning:
More collapsed tunnel wall lining.
Aron Stenning:
Myself inside one of the refuges!
Aron Stenning:
Well well well...this isn't a proper refuge...
Aron Stenning:
No wonder. It's where miners have mined in during the strike!
Aron Stenning:
Another area of mining activity.
Aron Stenning:
Coal!
Aron Stenning:
All of the ballast is still here.
Aron Stenning:
Facing the Cynon Valley end of the tunnel.
Aron Stenning:
A few bolts which held the rails together!
Aron Stenning:
The walls are still covered in soot!
Aron Stenning:
Wonder what person hung this empty can of beans here.
Aron Stenning:
What was beneath the can of beans!
