Let the fun begin

I should have heeded the warning. I broke my wrist later that day while crossing slippery rocks in a creek bed.
vacationer1901:
Maui's east side is lush and green
vacationer1901:
The trail climbs gently through open woods
vacationer1901:
What's the hurry?
vacationer1901:
One of many water falls along the trail
vacationer1901:
Tree roots look like a nest of snakes (and are slippery)
vacationer1901:
The trail is getting much steeper
vacationer1901:
Patterned leaves
vacationer1901:
Concrete derrick was used to haul suger cane across the gorge to the mill on the opposite side
vacationer1901:
The path leads through sugar cane fields
vacationer1901:
Thigh burning steps ahead
vacationer1901:
There just wasn't a way to take a good picture of the fall. The view of the fall was partially obstructed by tree branches and a steep, long drop would have been fatal.
vacationer1901:
Makahiku Falls drops 200 feet
vacationer1901:
Larry's shirt is stained with sweat
vacationer1901:
The steep rock steps continue
vacationer1901:
Higher and higher we climb
vacationer1901:
The trail takes a short bend downward
vacationer1901:
Rocks held together by slippery mud
vacationer1901:
We arrive at the banyan tree with its aerial roots
vacationer1901:
Aerial roots stretch out in all directions
vacationer1901:
A tired and sweaty Larry
vacationer1901:
This water fall is undercutting the mountain and has started to form a cave
vacationer1901:
The next waterfall was nearby
vacationer1901:
Ferns thrive in the humid environment
vacationer1901:
I couldn't coax a smile from Larry
