bkfrogma: Preparing to launch at Kaiser Park, at the mouth of Coney Island Creek.
bkfrogma: Suited up and ready to go, Verrazano Narrows Bridge in the distance
bkfrogma: Group shot!
bkfrogma: Launch time
bkfrogma: Paddler & bridge
bkfrogma: Industrial debris on the shores of Coney Island Creek.
bkfrogma: First stop - the Yellow Submarine of Coney Island Creek.
bkfrogma: Checking out the sub and somebody's very unusual parking job.
bkfrogma: Another view of the sub -
bkfrogma: Underway, heading for Swinburne.
bkfrogma: Switched to a wider format.
bkfrogma: TQ and Derrick
bkfrogma: Leaving the channel at green can #21
bkfrogma: Approaching Swinburne
bkfrogma: Off Swinburne. The snow was really coming down by now.
bkfrogma: Ever get that feeling you're being watched? The dark spot in the water is a seal.
bkfrogma: And another seal. They were everywhere, at one point we all just stopped paddling, there were seals all around us!
bkfrogma: They're always very curious about the kayaks but this one came up a little closer than it liked. Crash dive, sploosh!
bkfrogma: Off Swinburne.
bkfrogma: Minh in the snow
bkfrogma: Another seal. It was so nice and quiet, perfect seal-watching conditions. Now if I could just bring my Lumix and zoom out on my kayak! Optio just isn't quite zoomy enough.
bkfrogma: Again, snowing pretty good!
bkfrogma: Northbound to Hoffman
bkfrogma: Just off of the sandbar that runs between Hoffman and Swinburne
bkfrogma: We put on lights before heading back across. Our decks were getting very snowy!
bkfrogma: A little bit before this picture, we'd heard a horn. Look closely - see the cruise ship?
bkfrogma: Again, this one was coming down the channel well before we got there, so no trouble at all. It was a very quiet day traffic-wise, too.
