SewLibra: Digital Shark G1468NN on the left and Black & Decker Digital Advantage D2530 on the right. Both were great irons lasting 8 years each. I stored the Shark when I got the B&D and when the B&D died in 2023 I discovered the Shark was dead too.
SewLibra: Digital Black and Decker iron, model D2530. It beeps when it's ready and when it shuts off. I was sad when it went because the new B&D Digitals had too many bad reviews. Had to research quite awhile to find all the features I like.
SewLibra: This is what happens to your iron when you think it's your press cloth but it's fusible interfacing. Time to call it quits for the day! A wet Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to the rescue! Thankfully stainless steel is easy to clean.
SewLibra: My new Chi digital electronic iron, model 13107. Too many features to list here but I love it! 30 minute auto shut-off instead of the usual 8 minutes is a sewist's dream. Crazy good steam even on low levels and the 10' cord means no more extension cord.
SewLibra: The Chi has a titanium ceramic soleplate. More than 300 steam holes! I prefer stainless steel but this iron had every feature I wanted except that. I hope the soleplate lasts. I'll freak out the first time I get fusible interfacing on it!
SewLibra: The Chi 13107 is very handsome! It's large but not heavy. I would say mid-weight. I like that I can see the water level much more easily than my previous iron.
SewLibra: The cord bushing is really long on the Chi, however I noticed most new irons are like this. Likely it's for safety so it doesn't tip over easily. I'm used to it now, I just hold the iron a little differently when I press something vertically.
SewLibra: Chi 13107 info for my records.
SewLibra: I recently recovered my table top ironing board and then had to send back my Steamfast mini iron due to a recall. To replace it I bought this cheap Sunbeam mini. What a mistake, it's terrible! It smells awful, spits steam and the buttons don't work.
SewLibra: Then I got the Oliso MP3 Project Iron. Bigger than a mini but smaller than full size, it's packed with features and just as good as my Chi. This is my backup plus I'll use it when I have small projects or making bias tape. Very impressed with this!
SewLibra: The Oliso M3P project iron comes in gray with either coral, aqua or pistachio trim. I got the pistachio color and since I needed new cloth under my presser feet I put a coordinating green felt in all my machines. LOL.
SewLibra: Found a place to store my Oliso Project Iron so it's handy. The cord is dropped inside my MOOD bag so no need to wrap it for storage. Seeing it should help me remember to use it more often! (For Steam Irons Album.)
SewLibra: Oliso Project Iron info for my records.
SewLibra: Here are all three of my new steam irons. The Sunbeam ended up going to Goodwill but the other two are excellent!
SewLibra: Packaging for the Chi and Oliso. I'll keep them until the warranty expires I guess. I hate storing boxes though!
