First, line up the laser with a line on your rotary mat or cardboard grid if you use scissors. Mine has suction so I use a piece of craft foam underneath to be able to easily move it. Also makes a noise when it's on so I plan to get a quiet one some day.

Using my laser level to make sure the cables on this knit are straight before placing the pattern on top. Then use the laser on the pattern itself with laser straight on the grainline.

Using my laser level for a plaid fabric. The laser level comes in especially handy for plaids and stripes, and all pattern pieces cut on the grainline. For eye protection, as with any laser, never look directly into the laser.
