Hubby's summer project of making a hope chest is done! The dimensions are 38W x 18D x 22H. It's a nice size for storage, a coffee table, or with a cushion used for seating.

The redwood bottom looks nice and the soft close hinges work great. Just a gentle push and the lid slowly closes on its own, just like our kitchen cabinets.

My patterns fit perfectly, however this hope chest is going to eldest granddaughter. Hubby says he'll make me one and it won't be gray, which goes with nothing in our home. Looking forward to it!

This is the second hope chest hubby made, and it's for my pattern storage. He used poplar wood and stained it oak to match our bedroom furniture. It has a high gloss finish.

I asked for a cedar bottom. I like the smell and may someday store blankets or clothes. For now it's the perfect solution for my pattern stash.

He put soft close hinges on the hope chest for safety. So quiet and it won't bonk me on the head. Ha!

Hubby made a shelf for our downstairs powder room. There is a pedestal sink and toilet, so no storage. I like this so much I want another one for the master toilet closet. It's very sturdy!

Another addition to the master bathroom is this shelf with magazine rack that my husband made. He made a similar one for the downstairs powder room and I liked it so much I asked for this. What a guy!

David got a new circular saw and guide rail with his birthday gift cards. He's almost done with the third hope chest. July 2020
