SewLibra: I wear jeans and jeans shorts a lot! My tees rub on the stiff fly edge, plus my countertops are exactly the same height. For the last couple of years I have cut circles of fusible stretch (tricot) interfacing to cover the spot and beyond inside my tees.
SewLibra: Today I made a batch of several white and a couple of black circles. I find circles stay on through laundering longer than rectangles, as the corners peel up on them. I am using Pellon SK135 Sheer-Knit and Pellon EK-130 Easy Knit.
SewLibra: Try on the tee inside out and place a pin where the top of the fly juts out. Determine the direction of the greatest stretch in the interfacing and place it with the greatest stretch of the tee. Fuse with a press cloth, lots of steam and medium heat.
SewLibra: The circles are not detectable from the outside, the drape is not affected and there is still some stretch in the area. After multiple times in the washer and dryer you may need to replace the circles, but my tees are lasting a whole lot longer.
SewLibra: Smile! Now your tees will be thrown out when they're too faded, not because they have holes. :)
SewLibra: A recent session of cutting out both black and white interfacing because I bought a lot of tees on sale. This should last a LONG time.
