SewLibra: Jalie Vanessa 3637 pattern envelope.
SewLibra: On my second pair I still needed a little more room so I added 1/2" to the rise. Here I have lined up the back piece with the grainline and made my slash perpendicular to it. It looks odd, like it's crooked, but it worked.
SewLibra: I also had to add in the extra 1/2" to the front, pocket, and pocket facing. Here are all 4 pieces modified.
SewLibra: Rayon challis won't stay in place on my cutting mat, so I use paper tape to hold it in place. It really helps keep the grainline and from sliding around!
SewLibra: This time I stabilized the pocket edges with Design Plus fusible bias tape. It fuses on one side only, which is exactly what I needed here.
SewLibra: I also stabilized the pocket facing edges. I wasn't sure if it would be overkill to do both pocket and pocket facing edges, but it turned out fine.
SewLibra: Inside Jalie Vanessa pants pockets. They are sewn to both sides and waist so they stay in place.
SewLibra: Front view of pants. I was able to match the print on the front and back seams, but not the side seams. These pants are tapered.
SewLibra: I color blocked the pockets and waist on this version.
SewLibra: Side view showing contrast pocket.

SewLibra: Jalie Vanessa 3676 and Simplicity 5555. I do like the way the top looks wearing it open, except for those pesky floppy facings.
SewLibra: Close-up of front Jalie Vanessa. I like the colorblocked waist band and pockets.
SewLibra: Side view of top and pants worn together.
