SewLibra: Burda 7509 Woven Tank
SewLibra: Here is the muslin. This is the first top I've ever sewn with armscye darts. Not sure if I like them yet.
SewLibra: I took 1/2 inch from the back shoulder edge and tapered to the neck edge to eliminate back armscye gaping.
SewLibra: I added 5/8 in. at the lengthen line on both views, plus made View A the longer version like View B. One is a V- neck and the other a rounded neckline.
SewLibra: My eyes go crazy with too many lines for the darts. I mark them with colored pens.
SewLibra: This rayon batik is gorgeous, but so difficult to mark! I used my Slidelock tool and rotary cutter for the bias strips.
SewLibra: Applying 1/4 in. twill tape to the neck edge of the V-neck view with an edge foot. I sew it right next to the stitching line.
SewLibra: The twill tape did not work! It's not smooth so I carefully took it out.
SewLibra: I stabilized the necklines and armscyes with 3/8 in. strips of lightweight interfacing instead and that worked great.
SewLibra: This is how they have you sew on the V-neck binding. Then you turn it to the inside, trim the excess and topstitch.
SewLibra: Using a pressing ham for the curved armscye binding.
SewLibra: I used French seams for the shoulder and side seams. This fabric ravels.
SewLibra: I used my cover stitch machine for the hem.
SewLibra: Done! The colors are vibrant on this batik.
SewLibra: Side view. Perfectly sized armscyes and those darts don't look bad after all.
SewLibra: No gaping at the back neck or armscyes. Yay!
