SewLibra: After 4 days of prep, dying, sealing and cleaning, the ugly old grout looks pretty good! I will NEVER do it again. LOL.
SewLibra: Kitchen nook, but should be called "rack room". Wine rack, bakers rack, coat rack.
SewLibra: Before - Pantry and desk. It will be chopped to make 8 feet more counter space. Upper cabinets recessed and lower cabinets the same depth.
SewLibra: My lousy drawing for the contractor to change the pantry wall.
SewLibra: To this! Except the countertop will be level and no desk. We don't use it and I will get storage where the chair goes. This is going to open the kitchen and make it look wider.
SewLibra: New Kitchen Plan. Our kitchen is 12' X 20', including the nook.
SewLibra: Quartz Countertop Samples. Just beginning to make decisions. This will be a long process.
SewLibra: Quartz: Silestone Blanco City. Finally decided on this one. It has flecks of mostly beige, gray and white. The flecks are small so it won't be too busy.
SewLibra: The bamboo cabinets will be placed with the grain going horizontally. A modern look, all over the place on Houzz.
SewLibra: Hardware samples from contractor. We are going with brushed stainless, simple and curved.
SewLibra: Backsplash Ideas, Home Depot.

SewLibra: Skylights Cafe Melange (from Arizona Tile), next to the quartz sample.
SewLibra: Mini pendant Lighting - 3 over the peninsula. Purchased at Ferguson's.
SewLibra: Moen Indi Faucet and Soap Dispenser purchased at Home Depot.
SewLibra: Kohler, one big open white porcelain sink. It will be undermount and the countertop will cover all the holes. Purchased at Ferguson's.
SewLibra: Insinkerator Pro 750 3/4 HP purchased at Ferguson's.
SewLibra: Day before, March 11, 2014. All our stuff is out except the essentials: coffee and wine!
SewLibra: Temporary kitchen, part I.
SewLibra: Temporary kitchen, part 2.
SewLibra: Temporary kitchen, part 3.
SewLibra: Temporary kitchen, Part 4.
SewLibra: Temporary kitchen Part 5. Dishwashing station, in the bathroom. Yuck. I'm using the plastic tub in one of the sinks.
SewLibra: My side of the gargage. Poor Corolla is parked on the driveway. The other side has the contractor's trailer for hauling away the old cabinets.
SewLibra: Day 1, March 12, 2014, completely gutted. OMG the noise!
SewLibra: Day 2, March 13, 2014, electrical wiring and a ton of dust.
SewLibra: Day 3, March 14. More electrical wiring.
SewLibra: Getting matching cabinets and canned lights in the laundry room too, since it is right off the kitchen.
SewLibra: Day 6, March 17. No work was done over the weekend, except for me trying to throw together meals in 3 different rooms. Today the drywall mud/patches were done.
SewLibra: Day 6. I finally found the secondary tile at Daltile. It is called Urban Putty and will be subway 3" x 6", not square like this. The backsplash will be from countertop to the bottom of the cabinets, 18" high and there are 28 lineal feet to cover.
