ksb927: Here I am again in Florida ... visiting ksb and friends. They say it's called the Sunshine State
ksb927: I received a warm 'Welcome'
ksb927: I think these are some of my relatives...
ksb927: I arrived a day early and wasn't expected yet, but did get to meet Dopey as he made his rounds. btw...ksb actually calls him 'Opie' or 'Ope'. She thought Dopey was kinda mean sounding, and really doesn't fit him.
ksb927: I also became acquainted with 'Tink" (short for Tinkerbell) who came 2 weeks ago with a badly broken and bleeding leg. ksb has been seeing that he is fed, and he is progressing nicely
ksb927: Here they have fish hanging from the trees...which is convenient, but they were too big for me
ksb927: Early mornings on the dock...everything is so still
ksb927: it is equally nice from high above as the first sunlight filters across the tree tops
ksb927: the first to arrive were some of this year's little peachicks
ksb927: and of course I wanted to check out Dopey's fort. He is on one of his many tables ksb has around the yard for him
ksb927: I got to go to the top...it is 17 feet high...just the same as the neighbor's porch that Dopey liked. Everyone at the Home Depot is familiar with Dopey's fort!
ksb927: before long, many regulars began to filter in
ksb927: ksb devised several places for me to safely be with the big birds
ksb927: here I am in the petunias...see me?!
ksb927: I spent a lot of time with BADBird and Ope
ksb927: Opie aka Dopey
ksb927: there is always someone around
ksb927: everyone just mills about...sometimes fussing with one another
ksb927: here I am with two juvie peacocks sibs from last year...Wimpy and Gimpy. Gimpy is the one with the missing tail feathers, which are growing in again. Wimpy has a bad wing similar to Dopey...we are hoping it will mend and he will fly again.
ksb927: Gimpy and Wimpy (exercising and trying his wings)
ksb927: me and BAD again...this time in a new fort for ME!
ksb927: BAD showed me lots of neat stick handling tricks
ksb927: but, there was/is a full-fledged GBH turf war going on right now. I think maybe that is why I didn't get to meet JR - the 2nd yr juvie with the fishing line :-(
ksb927: everyone hangs together...we saw and heard LGH, but they never stop by
ksb927: this LBH comes several times each day...for water, and to scoff up all of the little waterbugs along the seawall and dock that others are too lazy to catch
ksb927: this guy was trying to show me how to make myself look scary if necessary...BVs are everywhere
ksb927: these guys (juvie Ibis) are two years younger than me, and really act it. They grunt and fuss at one another a lot, but the do like to play with sticks and moss
ksb927: here I am with them doing what they do best...eat bugs from the grass
ksb927: my last morning here, we had a manatee family come thru early morning...two large adults and a calf
ksb927: Princess also stopped by to take a dirt bath, as she is still incubating her nest
