AG Martin: Day one and a little concerned given the altitude and distance I needed to make that day. 9,000 feet, Snow, Bentonite Clay. Had to push going down a 4% downhill grade. Slow going with miles to go.

AG Martin: Day 2, Looking West, Henry Mountains before Hite, UT. I'd camp 2 nights later at Starr Springs which is located on the left shoulder of the Henry Mountains, appx 40 miles to the West.

AG Martin: Day 3, Colorado River just after Hite, Utah
AG Martin: Day 4, 22 pounds of water, Starr Springs, Utah. It dawned on me... 1 liter = 1 Kg. 2.2 pounds, so 10L or 22 pounds of water to carry up and down hills.

AG Martin: Carried everything to camp. This day, started at Starr Springs which is located on the right hand shoulder of the Henry Mountains in the distance (now 45 miles away).
AG Martin: Looking East at Henry Mountains. Boulder Town is appx. 30 miles west of here. Lots more scenery ahead.
AG Martin: South of Escalante, UT, Looking North Towards the Aquarius Plateau. The back country roads in Utah are excellent for touring. Other than some sandy sections, the entire route could be done on a regular touring bike.
AG Martin: Last Chance Creek, 1 day before the end of the tour. No thank you. This is why you need to carry 10 L or 22 LBS of water to last 2-3 days.
