Bookhenge: It's the annual Garden Easter Egg Hunt!
Bookhenge: Look who wants to find the Easter Bunny ;-)
Bookhenge: Got one!
Bookhenge: Egg-in-hiding
Bookhenge: Found one!!!
Bookhenge: It's a tough job but somebody's gotta weed the blueberry enclosure . . . Thank you, Connie!
Bookhenge: Time to harvest the last of the winter greens -- broccoli, Brussels sprouts, collards, kale, and mustard.
Bookhenge: So we cut the top off to donate and then dig out the roots with a shovel. Goal is to remove all the fine white roots that will compete with the roots of our new plants for oxygen.
Bookhenge: Digging out the roots . . .
Bookhenge: Is that little winter green bouquet cute or what?
Bookhenge: We made quick work of those two buckets-full!
Bookhenge: Good to see the faces of long-time gardeners back in the garden -- well, most of the face ;-)
Bookhenge: Toughest part is procuring the logs . . . White oak is the traditional wood of choice but we're using white and red oak, poplar, and swee gum.
Bookhenge: Looks like a good one . . .
Bookhenge: Lots of holes . . .
Bookhenge: Make sure there is a variety tag . . .
Bookhenge: Wide Range is the variety of mushroom we're inoculating . . .
Bookhenge: Next step, the plugs go in . . .
Bookhenge: See? Lots of holes and plugs!
Bookhenge: Mallet works best . . .
Bookhenge: Teamwork
Bookhenge: Little assist needed . . .
Bookhenge: Good way to vent frustrations ;-)
Bookhenge: And the next step? Hint: It involves hot wax . . .
