Conimbriga. This Roman site dates back to early A.D. era. Settlement was also the site of others, going back 500-1000 years earlier.

The Douro River reaches the Atlantic close to Porto. The valley extends to the east 100 miles: Portugal's oldest, most renowned grape-growing region.

Buçaco: Arboretum dating back many centuries, with plants and trees from around the world. Also a monastic retreat from the 7th century until 1834. This tree is an old one.

Porto. Many beautiful churches in Portugal, including Porto. This one: Igeja do Carmo in old city area.

Porto .Ferrera winery. A majority of the wine makers are located in the same area, south side of the river Douro. "Agglomeration.," as the geographers would say.
