03022, with obligatory match truck, is the West End pilot at Newcastle Central station in September 1982. Canopy repairs are in progress by the look of it.

03382 complete with wheel-skate at Landore, January 1983. She was one of the shunters with reduced-height cabs for working the restricted Burry Port & Gwendraeth Valley line.

Outside Swindon, withdrawn shunters 08362, 08636, 08545, 08271, 08055, 08328 and 08380 are at various stages of dismantling on March 1983.

Ashington, February 1983 with ex-BR D9504 and 2 sisters. 2 years earlier I enjoyed a cab ride in her at nearby Weetslade. Remarkably, she was later used in the construction of the Channel Tunnel rail link & is preserved at the Kent & E Sussex Railway.
