Ex-BR Class 14 650hp diesel-hydraulic Type 1, D9502 at Rowsley, Peak Rail, in 2009, STILL carrying her original 1964 livery! I had last seen her at NCB Weetslade in 1981.
colin9007:
NCB Ashington in 1982. No.506 was previously BR D9504. Strange to think that many years later this locomotive was involved in construction work for the Channel Tunnel rail link!

Ashington, February 1983 with ex-BR D9504 and 2 sisters. 2 years earlier I enjoyed a cab ride in her at nearby Weetslade. Remarkably, she was later used in the construction of the Channel Tunnel rail link & is preserved at the Kent & E Sussex Railway.
colin9007:
Ex-GWR 2-8-0T 5241 running light engine through Newport station past BR Type 1 diesel-hydraulic 0-6-0 D9519. The latter was in service for less than 4 years, whereas the tank locomotive lasted 41!
colin9007:
Smartly turned-out NCB Ashington No.3 ex-BRClass 14, D9521 at Ashington Colliery in 1982. Now preserved at the Llangollen Railway, I think.
colin9007:
Preserved BR Paxman Class 14 diesel-hydraulic 0-6-0 D9523 at Loughborough Central, GCR.
