Trucks and buses are not allowed to cross the Friendship Bridge so cargo is unloaded and goods are carried by head-strap, up hill across the bridge and through immigration ( I am guessing almost 1 mile)

The buildings were constructed directly into the steep mountainside. At one point I heard rushing water and I found this spot with a waterfall gushing right between the buildings.

All of the vehicles in town belonged either to our group or a group of 80 Indians on pilgrimage to Kailash.

These were the mountains we could see before dark. Because of the delay, we did not get to our hostel in Tingri until 1:00 AM. Brrrr... it was so cold

The landscape had changed dramatically from the lush green we were surrounded by at sunset.

It was unbelievably exhilerating to look at these gorgeous mountains and think, "Wow! these are the Himalayas".
