nevada4949:
Look what I found!
nevada4949:
One escaped back under the house.
nevada4949:
Mama cat
nevada4949:
No hanging around after dinner.
nevada4949:
Building trust: Will Mama cat eat while I'm outside and within 8 feet of her?
nevada4949:
It requires some thought. And careful watching.
nevada4949:
Carefully, very carefully -- one foot at a time.
nevada4949:
Out from cover -- need to think some more and assess the situation so far.
nevada4949:
A little closer ... slo-o-o-owly.
nevada4949:
... and closer ...
nevada4949:
One last check before lowering her guard to eat
nevada4949:
the bobbed tail (ouch!)
nevada4949:
Afterwards: leaving just as cautiously
nevada4949:
She hung out with me for 20 minutes.
nevada4949:
Shortly after this picture she went back under the house.
nevada4949:
Zane, of course, was keeping careful track of everything.
nevada4949:
Orange Cat #2
nevada4949:
Day 2: A little more trust showing in her body language
nevada4949:
Things looked like they were going fairly well till Zane sprang out of this position to go pounce on Mama cat. Good thing the door was between them!
nevada4949:
Closer (that blue triangle is my leg). But we start over fresh every time -- then again, it's only been 2 days.
nevada4949:
Next day -- Progress comes in small steps - 1
nevada4949:
Progress comes in small steps -- 2
nevada4949:
Progress comes in small steps -3: SUCCESS
nevada4949:
First glimpse of the babies since I saw them the first time, 2 days earlier -- she growled them back under the house immediately
nevada4949:
One brave (or dumb) one hasn't run off yet despite her mother's growls.
nevada4949:
This time, Mama Cat's going to let them stay out and play.
nevada4949:
This one is always the last to run and the first to come back.
