When you arrive in #Haiti safely with your many bags of donations, a celebratory selfie is in order!

Good morning from Port au Prince, Haiti! Enjoying breakfast at the beautiful Hotel Montana which is our home base when we are in Haiti. It's a gorgeous hotel that was rebuilt after a 2010 earthquake and I love staying here because the staff is so kind and

An early start and a long ride over some windy mountain roads brought us to one of my favorite towns in Haiti- Jacmel! Known as the City of Poets, this town is also full of highly talented artists. The mosaics on the steps we are sitting on are fairly new

Ending our first full day here with one of my favorite dishes- griote and plantains! My other favorite dish is soup joumou, pumpkin soup served on Sundays. I love the Hotel Montana's version and have tried to replicate it but alas, mine is never even clos
Leticia Barr @TechSavvyMama:
Today we ventured 2 hours west of Port au Prince to Leogane to visit soapstone artists who source rocks from this river for their hand carved pieces. They use simple tools to make the most beautiful pieces sold at @abnhaiti and in @Macys stores and online
Leticia Barr @TechSavvyMama:
Sneak peek of the soapstone heart boxes carved in #Leogane, #Haiti that will be part of the @macys #HeartofHaiti line this fall! Today we saw the various stages of production. This heart is being polished and almost ready to be carved.
Leticia Barr @TechSavvyMama:
It's my favorite day of the week in #Haiti! Sundays mean soup joumou, a pumpkin soup made with ingredients that were easily accessible to slaves and always made on Sundays and for celebrations. I love this soup and even though I've tried to make it, mine
Leticia Barr @TechSavvyMama:
Today we ventured north east of Port au Prince and over the mountains again, but in a different direction, to Mirebalais. We visited a women's cooperative of soap makers who make luscious natural bath products and then stopped in Croix des Bouquets to see

Each time I watch metalwork pieces being made in #Haiti, I have a deeper appreciation for the pieces in my home since each cut, divot, and scratch is hand done. #Haitian metalwork is a time consuming process that involves lots of physical labor to create

Last night's rain cleared the haze and it's a gorgeous morning! Today we are driving 4 hours to Les Cayes, one of the areas most affected by Hurricane Matthew. Your donations have been sorted into bags labeled for kids of all ages, babies, women, and men
Leticia Barr @TechSavvyMama:
It may have been a long drive to Les Cayes, #Haiti but well worth the 6 hour drive to see the joy on this little girl's face when we gifted her with art supplies. Isn't she adorable?
Leticia Barr @TechSavvyMama:
Oh Mother Nature! How can you be so cruel but create such beauty? Imagine enduring 160 MPH winds for hours on end. #HurricaneMatthew was between a category 4-5 and it twisted tops off palm trees, toppled trees to create a tangled landscape, ripped metal r

Celebrating the last day of a fantastic trip to #Haiti. Monitor is made with white rum Barbancourt and the beadwork is by @pascaletheardcreations. Gorgeous, delicious, and all #Haitian made!
Leticia Barr @TechSavvyMama:
Do you love this bag? I do! It's made from goat skin and leather that's tanned right outside Port au Prince and it's as incredibly soft as you would hope it might be. All made in #Haiti! #Bloggers4Haiti
Leticia Barr @TechSavvyMama:
Oh #Haiti. How I miss you already. Your beauty and charm have grabbed hold of my heart and make it hard to leave but I know I'll be back soon. Very soon. #HeartofHaiti #Bloggers4Haiti #thisishaiti
Leticia Barr @TechSavvyMama:
Apparently it's #nationalpumpkinday and I celebrated early with some #Haitian pumpkin soup (aka soup joumou) yesterday at @marriotthaiti! #thisishaiti #Bloggers4Haiti #Haiti
Leticia Barr @TechSavvyMama:
I'm already missing the amazing mango, fresh yogurt, and homemade pastries at @hotelmontanahaiti along with the gracious staff and wonderful hospitality. The Montana is my home away from home while in Port au Prince and never disappoints. It's no surprise
