raleighsheffield: London trip 2018!
raleighsheffield: Welcome to.....Detroit? American cancelled flight out of Omaha so here I am flying Delta. Some advice, be flexible.
raleighsheffield: Landed at London Heathrow only 2 hours later than original schedule. Not bad! Here is the train from Heathrow to Paddington Station, 27 min with 4 stops, 10 pounds($13)
raleighsheffield: Balmoral House Hotel. This long row of connected former homes was painfully transformed into many small hotels with very small non ac rooms
raleighsheffield: Spacious room. I had to ride side saddle on the toilet to avoid the small sink. Out of respect to any viewers, I did not take a selfie of that.
raleighsheffield: No room for the hair dryer in the bathroom. Now do you believe me?
raleighsheffield: My hotel was conveniently located two blocks from Paddington Station and two blocks from London’s Hyde Park. This is the Italian Gardens right where I entered the park.
raleighsheffield: At the west end of Hyde Park is Kensington Palace birth place of Queen Victoria and formerly home of Princess Diana. Will and Kate currently reside in this palace built in 1605. I chose not to have afternoon tea with them however.
raleighsheffield: Memorial to Prince Albert(1819-1861) located in Hyde Park. Prince Albert was the beloved husband of Queen Victoria.
raleighsheffield: Beautiful detail in the Albert Memorial
raleighsheffield: Royal Albert Hall. Concert venue located across the street from the Albert Memorial
raleighsheffield: More Albert Memorial
raleighsheffield: Detail in fence around Albert Memorial
raleighsheffield: Map of Hyde Park
raleighsheffield: Princess Diana Fountain. It is really a somewhat circular flowing stream, not that impressive
raleighsheffield: A beautiful warm afternoon in Hyde Park. No rain during the entire 7 days
raleighsheffield: Buckingham Palace, royal residence since 1837
raleighsheffield: Queen Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace
