raleighsheffield: The Rijksmuseum is a Dutch national museum dedicated to arts and history in Amsterdam. This building first opened its doors in 1885
raleighsheffield: In April 2013 the museum reopened after a ten-year renovation at a cost of 375 million euros or over $400 million dollars
raleighsheffield: It is the largest art museum in The Netherlands. The building itself is a work of art
raleighsheffield: The entrance lobby. For once I did not walk to the museum but took the tram. I was there just minutes after it opened
raleighsheffield: My first view of the art. For most of the paintings that follow I have included the basic information about the work in a following photo. I chose some of the popular works but also some that I particularly liked.
raleighsheffield: Woodland Pond at Sunset
raleighsheffield: The Great Postal Route
raleighsheffield: Toilet Mirror
raleighsheffield: Portrait of Emperor Napolean
raleighsheffield: Time for a selfie. Glad they had an English Channel on the audio tour
raleighsheffield: Beautiful interior
raleighsheffield: Look at the crowds around the most famous posing in the museum, Rembrandt's Night Watch. A better photo follows. Enlarge on you smartphone or tablet to see the detail in all the paintings
raleighsheffield: Night Watch by Rembrandt
raleighsheffield: Largest work of art in the museum
raleighsheffield: The Last Judgement. Open up the photo and see the scary detail on the right panel. Better change your ways folks!
raleighsheffield: Turkey Pie. Look at the amazing detail
raleighsheffield: One of my favorites. Bet he'd be a fun drinking buddy
raleighsheffield: They look constipated don't you think?
raleighsheffield: Two Oaks. Especially liked this one
