kctm56: Started a new project. The singles are removed from the left and all the windows are out. They renovated my own house so I thought I'd do the same with my dollshouse. I'm a little worried.
kctm56: Scary isn't it? Trust me, it will be all right. Or so I am telling myself. I am not yet done with taking out what I no longer want. It will get worse.
kctm56: Demolition is done. I don't think I have to do anymore than this. Now it's time to start rebuilding.
kctm56: Slap on a sign that says; Condemned. Looks pretty sad with the windows boarded up.
kctm56: Scary looking, isn't it? I did say it would look worse. I need the walls to be flush, for when the stones are attached to it. No more Tudor. It's a nightmare to get the pieces of wood on. Lack of funds reduced me to this.
kctm56: The frontdoor is now to the side. I needed the wall for the huge fireplace I will build. It's going to be in all three floors. Made with real stones.
kctm56: Was plastering the front and on a roll when I ran out of plaster.
kctm56: The base of the chimney is done. Next step is to plaster it so I can attach the bricks on the outside. Already ordered them.
kctm56: The chimney looks so much better now that the plaster is on. And I added the top.
kctm56: I did it again, didn't I. The roof looks terrible right now but I promise it will get better. Because of the layer of wood and plaster, the old roof no longer fit. This too will be covered with plaster and rounded off. Awaiting the roof tyles. For that I
kctm56: Started with the bricks on the chimney. I am already halfway through the first box and I am just a few layers up. The roof, as you can see is plastered. No longer an eyesore. I will be needing a lot more bricks to get to the top. Back to robbing a bank.
kctm56: Well, I managed to give the chimney a foot before I ran out of bricks.
kctm56: Made a start with the roof. And guess what? I RAN OUT OF TYLES!. Of course I did. Just wanted to see what it would look like.
kctm56: Progress is painstakingly slow. I am always running out of something. Now it's the glue. What did I do to myself? I use kit to attach the roof tiles. Ran out of that too.
kctm56: There is no order to this madness. I have been working on several things at the same time. This time I have done the base of the fireplace and mantel going up all floors. Decorative stones will eventually attached to it. Namaste.
kctm56: This was easy. NOT. Mistakes were made. It does however start to look the part.
kctm56: Just remembered I don't like puzzles. This will take me a very very long time. I will never see the sun again.
kctm56: Quite proud of the result if I do say so myself. The grey stones are going on the rest of the house. I may use lighter coloured corner stones.
kctm56: Next step in the chimney build. Filled it with Styrofoam. It will be covered with plaster and finished with stones.
kctm56: Moved the whole thing downstairs so I could work on it in front of the telly. I grouted a small part to see how it would look. Nearly finished the roof. It's beginning to come together.
kctm56: The mantle is slowly coming together. The small one has tiles and the big one has had another layer of plaster. It will need at least one more.
kctm56: Putting the small boarding up one by one is taking a long time because I have to let it dry first before the next one can go on.
kctm56: This is the most infuriating work to do. I don't want to waste anything so it's like a puzzle where none of the pieces fit. I will be needing a lobotomy after I finish this.
kctm56: Looks pretty good. Ran out of stones. Of course I did. That should be my middle name. Karin 'she ran out of materials ' Carter.
kctm56: This is beginning to look like something. Tried different ways to cover the walls, but nothing worked. These I can cut to size.
kctm56: Finally got the floor in. Too bad I have to wait before I can order again. But this will be a better surface for the final flooring.
kctm56: The wall covered in wood will be the backdrop for the bookcases.
kctm56: The fireplace is coming together nicely. The stones are on and grouted. The effect of burning applied. The wood for the sides is coming tomorrow. That will be stained. I can finally finish the walls. Stay tuned.
kctm56: The library has its walls and floor. I know the color is a bit dark but it will be the backdrop of the bookshelves and most of it will not be seen.
kctm56: The floor in the gallery is in and ready to be covered with the cover-floor. The same as downstairs.
