The hardware store was razed in 1968 by a bank which did not use all of the footprint. They did put a sign out marking the spot. Indiana, Pennsylvania.

And one of the most memorable films. I’ve had the occasion to visit Seneca Falls, New York, which doubled as Bedford Falls during filming. I wasn’t able to check out the museum there, but did photograph the George Bailey Bridge.

Although “Rear Window” and “Vertigo” were more famed, “Rope” which has roots in one of the more famous crimes of the twentieth century was certainly one of Hitchcock’s underrated.

Note the propeller in the corner. “The Flight of the Phoenix” was a film that I enjoyed while growing up. The remake was not nearly as good.
