Trains1983: A BNSF ACe leading a CSX Gevo on one of the many auto rack trains that run through Birmingham Missouri on a daily basis
Trains1983: One of the many daily BNSF locals running through Kansas City. These are always fun to catch for something a little different power wise
Trains1983: BNSF local tied down waiting for its next move in a little town in the middle of Kansas. Every other town I passed seemed to have its own local power
Trains1983: Here we see some transcon action. Lots of fast action on the transcon. This was a BNSF westbound meeting a UP eastbound in the state of Missouri during my midwest trip that took me to 14 different states
Trains1983: A KCS yard job with KCS 1910 (GP38-2) and KCS 2974 (GP40-3) swings out with its train as they shuffle cars in the yard
Trains1983: KCT transfer ducking under a UP freight as it takes its transfer cars over to the KCS yard
Trains1983: Here is another one of my shots from Plattsmouth, Nebraska during my midwest trip. Here we see another BNSF grain train crossing the Missouri river which is the state line here dividing Iowa and Nebraska
Trains1983: Just another one of the many BNSF locals roaming around Kansas City and its surrounding areas. Being from Florida the locals had some of the power I came to see
Trains1983: Just a little variety of power waiting for assignment in BNSF's Argentine Yard in Kansas City. Weather couldn't have been better for the trip either
Trains1983: While on the way home from Kansas City we decided to follow the CN for a while to see if we could catch a CN Tier 4. Being from Florida I had not seen any yet but after the trip I saw enough of them to not need to see any more for a while
Trains1983: UP-CNAOL coming through Lawrence, KS seen here running right beside US HWY 24 on its way to Kansas City in perfect weather
Trains1983: Just another of the many transfer jobs that run in Kansas City daily. These transfers always seemed to have the more interesting power
Trains1983: CN U756 was one of the many CN trains we caught on the last weekend of the trip. Would have been nice for that trailing motor to lead but being from Florida I was ok with anything CN leasing honestly
Trains1983: Having already caught the CNW heritage when it came through KC the first time I didn't keep track of it after that and one day while out we get a nice consist on UP-MDMHN with EX SP, UP, CNW seen here passing through Topeka, KS
Trains1983: On the way home from Kansas City we stopped in Paducah, KY to see if the PAL was running anything which they weren't at least when we stopped by to check but we got word over the radio a BNSF ballast train was coming by so we went to get it
Trains1983: A pair of warbonnets bring local D70 through the west bottoms in Kansas City. With over 90% of the warbonnets in storage it was nice to see a pair running a local in Kansas City while I was there on my trip and couldn't have asked for better weather
Trains1983: Here is the last of the three UP Heritage units I caught on my week long trip to Kansas City. UP 1982 the MoPac unit leading MDMEW through Kansas City and if you ask me this unit is looking a little rough
Trains1983: Here is the second of three UP Heritage I caught leading while I was in Kansas City for a week and this was the last one I needed to have all the UP Heritage leading. Rio Grande leading UEOTDG into Kansas City where it would get a new crew and continue on
Trains1983: During my week in Kansas City I was able to complete getting all the UP heritage leading by catching three while I was there. Being from Florida I don't see them much at all. Here is the first of three UP 1995 the CNW leading MKCCN out of KC
Trains1983: While on my trip to Kansas City we got a heads up from one of the locals that one of the five unpatched SP units that are left was leading ZSIG4 so we set out for a chase and what fun it turned out to be
Trains1983: Just as the sun was starting to fall behind the trees we see a BNSF transfer job coming back from the KCS yard in Kansas City with a nice variety of power. A little bummed the sun wasn't still up more but at least it wasn't dark yet I guess
Trains1983: CN M399 seen here on the south end of Champaign Yard in Illinois with one of only three BCOL dash 9's in the red, white, and blue paint schemes which are 4642, 4643, and 4644. I now have two of the three leading and won't hold my breath for the last one
Trains1983: Overlooking the BNSF Argentine Yard engine shops we see BNSF V-BLUKCK pulling into the yard with a pair of KCS Belle ACe's for power. This was the end of the line for this train as it would terminate here
Trains1983: One of the many BNSF locals that run out of Kansas City seen here taking cars to drop off near the entrance to Subtropolis which is the worlds largest underground storage facility that was developed by the late Kansas City Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt
Trains1983: One spot I really wanted to see on this trip was here in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Here is a BNSF grain train crossing the Missouri river from Iowa into Nebraska as the river is the state line here.
Trains1983: The CP local seen here running through Birmingham, MO with a single car heading back to Knoche yard where CP and KCS have a shared yard in Kansas City
Trains1983: With downtown Kansas City in the background we see the KCT bringing a transfer job to the KCS yard
Trains1983: On the way to Kansas City we made a few stops including here a small UP yard in Jonesboro, AR which had three of these GMTX/GATX units sitting around unfortunately none were actually being used while we were there so we moved on after a few shots
Trains1983: On the way to Kansas City we stayed a night in Memphis, TN so that morning before we left we decided to go see if anything was around and sure enough we found this NB mixed freight coming out of the north end of CN's Harrison Yard with CN 2264 and IC 1000
Trains1983: On the trip from Memphis to Kansas City we decided to follow the BNSF just to see what scenery we could get since we had never traveled this way before. Here we see a BNSF mixed freight heading NB on its way to Kansas City seen here in Seymour Missouri
