remove from pans, let cool on wire racks

once totally cool, flip over and trip uneven tops off, make sure each layer is level

Gather your frosting tools

fill small bag with frosting

pipe a border on top of your bottom layer

plop some frosting inside your circle

smooth out, check to see if it's all level, if not, add more frosting or take away as needed

invert 2nd layer and place on top of bottom layer

plop more frosting on top

do a thin, smooth coat all over. put cake in fridge. take out after 30 minutes and do another, thicker layer of frosting

smooth sides with large offset spatula or bench scraper.
