That dark peak in the distance is the Worcestershire Beacon. I'm reluctant to admit this, but I'd arrived in the dark with a road atlas, my book which gave grid references only, and a sat nav that couldn't find "Herefordshire Beacon".

On the far horizon near enough dead centre you can see that typically Black Mountains scarp above Hay on Wye.

From the highest point looking SW. To the SSW you can see a little bristle of pine trees on the furthest horizon? That's May Hill in the Forest of Dean.
