RichSo: We left Vancouver at 4am, drove north towards Pemberton and then up the Rutherford Creek FSR, which was snow free to the end. We stopped shortly after the bridge due to waterbars.
RichSo: Rutherford Logging Road Approach
RichSo: The Menzel Memorial trail begins at the edge of the cutblock. Access to the peaks on the south side of the Rutherford at centre is difficult now with the removal of the bridge across. Otherwise, there would be some sweet couloirs to ski.
RichSo: Greg checks out the snowmobiler hut. This was also where the snow became more continuous.
RichSo: Bushwacking along the Creek
RichSo: Looking ahead at our destination, up and to the right. Perhaps at this point, we should have turned around to crag in Squamish.
RichSo: But there was some good bushwacking ahead, and off we went. It's fun, in small doses.
RichSo: Finally some easy travel along the south shore of Appa Lake
RichSo: Cold Creek Crossing
RichSo: John fording the creek
RichSo: Finally up on the glacier, that sure took longer than expected.
RichSo: While it was beautiful and sunny (thanks yr.no!) on the Appa Glacier, there were big clouds forming over Whistler and Wedge.
RichSo: Greg above the Appa Glacier
RichSo: Syaqtsa Peak
RichSo: Ipsoot is the big peak on the left.
RichSo: Appa Peak is the one on the right. We thought about going up there, but decided against skiing the southerly aspect, given our late start.
RichSo: Greg heading up onto Sem'am Peak
RichSo: John heading up onto Sem'am Peak
RichSo: Greg, near the summit, with a view of the Pemberton icefield behind him. Today was all about the views.
RichSo: Summit
RichSo: Crevasses on the Pemberton Icefield
RichSo: I think that is Torah Peak on the right.
RichSo: Mount Albert
RichSo: Unnamed Peak above the Soo River
RichSo: Ashlu Mountain
RichSo: Ring Peak is the flat summit in the middle, with Amicus Peak on the Ashlu-Elaho behind.
RichSo: North side of Mount Callaghan
RichSo: Powder Mountain, with Mount Cayley barely poking out of the snow.
RichSo: Mount Tantalus
RichSo: Longspur Peak
