Dart Johnson Photography: Rare Breed Distilling rickhouse. The black staining common at distilleries is caused by Baudoinia compniacensis mold, known as the Whisky Fungus. Whiskey rickhouse warehouses are the primarily source of ethanol vapor causing the black Baudoinia mold.
