One of my favorite things about a good gin martini is the olives. I found these lemon-stuffed olives today at Marché Jean Talon and decided to swap out the olive juice with gin! (Ungava gin is a gin distilled in Quebec with a variety of Arctic botanicals

After a few miles strolling around Montreal on a gray day, I'm in my chair ready to start a Louise Penny mystery (set in Quebec's Eastern Townships). The window is open and I can hear cars swoosh by on the rainslicked street. 😊

When we are in Montreal for a month or two, we buy pots of herbs, usually basil and rosemary. They are cheery at the window and smell good. When we leave we gift them to the building super for his family.

Many of the trees below our window in the old port of Montreal are apple trees full of apples ready for picking. Today I watched a father and son pick the apples with a loooong fruit picker and they filled three buckets. Apple sauce anyone?
