Dragonfly alighting on one of the garden fence posts. The Bugguide web site says this is a Red Dragonfly.
JudithKB:
A female Rufus humming bird. We seem to have some that have decided to become residents, usually we see them during migration for a few weeks but several have stayed.
JudithKB:
A Preying Mantis pic from last summer. I bought 2 mantis eggs (othecas) this year but I have only seen a couple of small mantis so far this summer.
JudithKB:
I think this is a very young hummingbird, hard to tell what kind it is. It doesn't look pleased having it's picture taken.
JudithKB:
Finally a decent pic of BunBun where she shows up. Our carpet is the same color as she is so it is hard to get a good pic with two similar colors and a very fluffy bunny. Here she is on the rug under the coffee table that has more color.
JudithKB:
Female Praying Mantis. I had her in my Mantis habitat for about two weeks feeding her crickets and Skipper butterflies. During that time she laid an egg called an Ootheca and hopefully next spring it will hatch and give is hundreds of baby Mantids!
