100 Peaks:
It was another great day in the desert. I attempted to get to Jacumba Mountain, the LONG way, but I ran out of daylight. It was still a fantastic day of off-trail ridge line hiking.

This is my friend Tip, having his morning coffee with a view. My daughter, Tip, and I had just woken up after a night on a remote desert mesa. The weather was perfect and the silence was golden.

Found a quiet spot last night. Got down to the 40s, but I was cozy. The sun is just now hitting the tent. Time for coffee with a view.
100 Peaks:
We had just arrived in camp from the trailhead after climbing Piute Pass and were greeted by a wall of friends, old and new. We turned around and there was a sight to behold. Alpenglow on Mount Humphreys, Eastern Sierra, from early September, 2024.

Dawn in Dusy Basin. Slide film, 1983. Taken by my scoutmaster. This is a year before my first Sierra Trip. My dad and brother are down there. I have since visited the area several times. It never gets old.

I love going back to old photos and realizing you’ve taken pictures from nearly the same place several times. Pics are from 2010, 2021, and 2023, descending from New Army Pass down to Rock Creek. All three trips were wildly different.

I love it when the @sandiegoriver catches me on their wildlife cameras. From a wonderful backpacking trip in March.

I just got back from a wonderful trip with friends, old and new. Adventures like these aren’t always perfect, but the people you’re with make it all the more special. Off-trail travel in the High Sierra is the best.
100 Peaks:
Some of the best hikes are the ones where you use a headlamp at the start or end of the hike. Or sometimes both.
100 Peaks:
Enjoyed some time on a very familiar trail this morning. The marine layer was glorious.
100 Peaks:
Yesterday, I was invited to witness the release of nine coyotes back into the wild. Some were found as orphaned pups, while others were rehabbed. It was magical to see them run from us, turning back to look at us, then disappear into the oak forest. Thank

Another photo find from my 2020 Sierra trip. Was a beautiful still morning, but that didn’t last long.
100 Peaks:
The Sierra is on my mind. Taken near Rock Creek after an ~11-mile day, 2020. Mount Guyot in the distance. We hung out by the creek for a long time that afternoon.
